Studio Workshops Overview

Our studio workshops are small scale, one day intensive events for up to five people, and being in our own studio they are very hands-on with state-of-the-art equipment and workflows, and complete access to all of our research, archives and library.

Studio Workshops also offer a more intimate and specialised experience compared to our larger scale weekend or residential courses, but without incurring the expense of a 1:1 consultation. The cost per person is $330/day including GST.

Studio workshops cover intermediate to very advanced topics with specialist content and in greater depth than can be covered in my weekend courses.  They are staged in my professional working environment where much of the content involves making images for experimental, analytical and professional outcomes. The content is also continuously adapted to reflect the needs and level of engagement of those attending.  In other words, the experience is that of a working studio more than a class room or lecture theatre. While professional practice provides the foundation for my studio workshops, it is creativity, critical thinking and practical engagement that focuses the outcomes.

In 2018 we are offering ten Studio Workshops covering the following topics:

The Digital Print     • Colour Managed Workflows     • Camera Craft
• Advancing Photoshop     • The B&W Digital Image
• B&W Film Exposing, Processing and Scanning
• Fine Art Reproduction     • Exhibition Preparation
• Beyond Photoshop – Colour Correction
• Augmented Reality

Studio workshops are presented from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Sundays, and timetabled regularly throughout the year with additional workshops being added as needed. Additional one-on-one consultations can be scheduled either the day before or after the workshop, and for country or interstate visitors we often schedule two studio workshops back to back, either on a weekend or midweek, in order to maximise the experience and return.

The venue is in Heidelberg. Victoria, 20 minutes from Melbourne CBD and 25 minutes from Melbourne Airport. The workshop hours are flexible and if needed can be organised to suit flight arrivals and departures, travel times, and other considerations. There is plenty of accommodation in the area, the closet being Austin Rise B&B which is a 5 minute walk from the studio.
